Business Rock Hill: 03/27/12 Create Event Incentives
With plans, money and ideas quickly taking shape for the future of Rock Hill’s outdoor market, city planners and council are in the midst of discussions on ways to entice event planners to host even more festivals and celebrations in downtown Rock Hill.
Under a plan under review, the create-event incentive calls for a matching grant of up to 600-dollars per day for public events and up to 300-dollars per day, matched on a 2-to-1 basis by the organizer of the event, with a total investment by the city of 25-thousand dollars per year, using hospitality tax funds.
9-thousand of that is committed to the city’s old town market hall for city sponsored events for the next five years. Each year, the city collects around 3.9 million dollars in hospitality and accommodations taxes. The measure passed unanimously.
