A South Pointe High School administrator has been named as one of three finalists for a national award.

South Pointe Assistant Principal Denise Khaalid was named Tuesday a finalist as for the National Association of Secondary School Principals as the Nation Assistant Principal of the Year.

Khaalid joins Sean Burke of McMinnville High School in Oregon and Maureen Cohen of Grafton High School in Massachusetts in vying for the award.

Khaalid will head to Tampa, Fla., in early March for phase two of the selection process.
