Norman, business leaders supporting changes to UDO

Over the next few months, York County leaders will likely be working hand-in-hand with developers to clean up the county’s Unified Development Ordinance.

Monday night, State Representative Ralph Norman, who is also a developer in the Warren Norman company, pleaded with council members asking for a summit of sorts between county leaders and developers.

Norman said the idea is akin to former football players developing the plays for a team’s playbook — with developers who’ve executed major developments having a hand in future rules.

Councilman Eric Winstead expressed support for the program, saying that streamlining the development process is crucial to further development.

Norman said he’s already has great success working on development plans with the City of Rock Hill, and is currently working on editing similar development plans with the City of Lancaster.
