Woodard: Haley must hone skills to persuade (AUDIO)
Harnessing the energy of the Tea Party Movement, Nikki Haley captured the gubernatorial race by 51 percent of the vote. Now that the race is won, it is nearly time to govern with the inauguration set for January 12. Clemson University Political Science professor Dr. David Woodard envisions Haley attempting to tackle a few key issues in the first few weeks of her administration.
Woodard says Haley will speak extensively about the state’s economy. However, the key to her having success in the first 100 days of her governorship will be the way she tackles the state’s budget shortfall.
Woodard says some members of the South Carolina House and Senate have concerns about working with Haley, viewing her governorship as a continuation of the Mark Sanford regime. Woodard says during this transition period Haley must work to hone her communication skills.
