One of the suspects in the Kate Waring murder trial gave her testimony today in court. Heather Kamp led investigators to the remains of Kate Waring’s lifeless body on October of 2009. Since then, Kamp has pleaded guilty of manslaughter and other charges–and now, she has given her testimony as to what happened.

Kamp told a jury she moved to Charleston last year to break free from her past of scamming people, pretending to be a doctor and using their credit cards to run up expenses. However, it was then that she met Ethan Mack, another suspect in Waring’s murder, and fell in love. Kamp testified saying she was angry at Waring for stealing away time with Mack. She also said Waring starting spreading the word that Kamp was a fraud. Then, the couple took Waring’s checks and credit card, draining her bank account. According to Kamp’s testimony, that’s when the murder took place.

In court, Waring’s father took the stand as well, saying he wasn’t naive.

Janice and I have loved our children unconditionally. That doesn’t mean I was blindly, I wasn’t blind to the fact that Kate had issues and challenges.

WCIV in Charleston reports Waring’s father said those issues and challenges included anxiety, depression and frequent drug use.

Kamp is now testifying against Mack in his murder trial.
