Car lands in Winthrop Lake; Disc Golfer charged with simple possession
ROCK HILL, SC — Winthrop University officials came across an unusual find Wednesday in the lake on the farm property. Campus officials were alerted to the presence of a SUV in the water. Winthrop spokeswoman Judy Longshaw says the vehicle is a 1998 Blue Ford Explorer with Wisconson plates.
The driver of the wehicle, who is taking part in the Disc Golf Tournament, reportedly left it in Drive while leaving to take pictures with his girlfriend. Police found a bag of marijuana insided the vechile when it was pulled from the water and another individual from Wisconsin was charged with simple possession.
