SC State Parks partner with Boy Scouts
Governor Mark Sanford announced on Wednesday a new partnership creating a new Scout service project.
Sanford joined park rangers, Boy Scouts and Scout leaders, along with officials from the Department of Parks, Recreation, and Tourism (PRT), to announce a new partnership between the Boy Scouts of America and S.C. State Parks. The partnership is to coordinate future service projects at state parks that are undertaken by Boy Scouts. A new “Scout Carolina” patch was unveiled, marking service projects done in conjunction with the parks. Gov. Sanford says that this new partnership represents a unique and positive step giving Scouts the chance to learn and contribute to “this larger notion of conservation and stewardship.”
Officials at PRT are in the process of outlining specific projects Scouts can achieve to earn the new “Scout Carolina” patch.
