New $47 million Naval clinic opens in Charleston
Navy members, their families and veterans now have a consolidated, larger facility to go to for health care. The new Naval Health Clinic in Charleston will give veterans, retirees, and current Navy men and women and their families more VA support. It’s all part of a consolidation effort by the Department of Defense and the Veterans Administration that opens this week.
Although the partners will remain separate entities, the $47 million 188,000-square-foot facility will be consolidated. The Joint Ambulatory Care Clinic located on board the Naval Weapons Station in Goose Creek, about 15 miles from Charleston, is intended to offer a well-rounded, comprehensive health care system for Navy members and their families. The same services currently offered at the Naval Health Clinic will be offered at the new facility.
