Jimmy Carter hospitalized; Columbia visit delayed?

An airport spokesperson says that former President Jimmy Carter has been hospitalized in Cleveland, potentially delaying his Thursday visit to South Carolina as well.

A few days shy of his 86th birthday, Carter fell ill this morning on a commercial flight to Cleveland and was delivered by rescue crews to MetroHealth Medical Center.

Carter was on his way to Cleveland to sign copies of his new book, White House Diaries. He was also scheduled for a book-signing at Columbia’s Village at Sandhill Books-A-Million on Thursday. A representative at the store says the book-signing is still on for now.
