South Carolina attorney general Alan Wilson told the Rock Hill Rotary Club Thursday that he will not become a “lame duck attorney general.”

Wilson’s second term is up in 2018, and he says he’s considering a run for governor.

He says when he took office as AG in 2011, South Carolina had some of the nation’s most horrible laws against human trafficking.

“Everyone came together — Republicans, Democrats, House, Senate, local law enforcement leaders — and we put together the most comprehensive human trafficking laws in the country.  We are recognized as one of the best states in the enforcement of human trafficking statutes.”

Wilson says his job as the state’s top prosecutor includes promoting a pro-business environment in South Carolina.

He says he’ll decide after November whether to run for governor.
