A new state law will require South Carolina high school students to learn CPR skills. According to media reports the American Heart Association applauds Gov. Nikki Haley who signed the bill into law. CPR has been shown to double and triple survival rates. It’s named “Ronald Rouse’s Law.” Rouse, a high school football player from Hartsville, collapsed and died during a game in 2012. According to the American Heart Association, more than 400,000 people experience cardiac arrest outside a hospital every year. Only 10.4 percent survive.
