Nobody hurt when local YMCA tour bus catches fire on I-77

The Upper Palmetto YMCA says its tour bus with only a driver on board caught fire and became engulfed in flames late this morning during a return trip from Charlotte after receiving regular maintenance.

Nobody was injured.

Southbound traffic was backed up on I-77 from the Gold Hill Road area.

YMCA officials say this is an isolated case, and they won’t inspect their entire fleet.
