The Tri-County area has once again shown that it has some of the best coaches in South Carolina as 6 were honored at the annual South Carolina Athletics Coaches Association’s annual meetings. Clover Athletic Director Carrol Hester was selected as the statewide AD of the year. Northwestern’s Kyle Richardson, who led the Trojans to a 15-0 state championship season, was picked as the top football coach in the state. 4 area coaches were honored for their long-time commitment to prep sports: John Smith-Great Falls (35 years), Jane Page-Dutchman Creek Middle School (35 years), Ricky Campbell-Chester (25 years). Former Herald sports writer, Barry Byers, received the Distinguished Service Award for his commitment to prep sports. Byers died in October of 2013.
