ComstockHeadShot-HiResVertWinthrop University’s Board of Trustees will meet behind closed doors in a special called meeting Friday.

In an agenda provided by the university Wednesday, trustees will hear comments from the public before entering executive session to discuss “contractual matters” related to President Jamie Comstock Williamson.

Williamson was named as Winthrop’s tenth president in February 2013 and succeeded longtime president Anthony DiGiorgio who retired in June 2013.

Williamson and her husband, Larry moved in to the President’s House on campus in late June before she took over as head of the university July 1.

This spring, Williamson took part in a week-long inauguration, including representatives from major public and private universities across the country.

In May, WRHI was the first to report on a series of significant pay increases for select university staff — raises that were approved by Williamson without the knowledge of the board of trustees.
