Following a fateful fire nearly 16 years ago, Rock Hill’s Arcade Mill site has slowly undergone a major redevelopment effort.

Tuesday afternoon, mayor Doug Echols and members of Rock Hill City Council unveiled a series of three historical markers along the Winston Searles Trail that snakes between Sidney Street and the former mill site.

The trail is named after the late Winston Searles, a member of city council who was a driving force behind the mill’s redevelopment until his death in 2007.

Echols says he is pleased to see the mill site has come back to life in its latest form.

Nearby, city leaders dedicated the Cotton Mill Village, a series of home sites built on the former mill property.
