Winners and unofficial numbers from Tuesday night primary in York and Lancaster County
Voter Turnout across York County was 20% for the primaries. That’s close to 42,000 ballots cast.
There will be a runoff for Governor of South Carolina pitting Lt.Gov Pamela Evette against Attorney General Alan Wilson. Numbers were not official by time of this posting but Ralph Norman finished 3rd, Rom Reddy in 4th and Nancy Mace in 5th.
Unofficial numbers
For York County Council District 7, Debi Cloninger defeated Scott Couchenour with 2,758 votes to 1,698
Also on York county Council, incumbent Tommy Adkins defeated two challengers in Stephanie Brown and Brad Sims getting 2,167 votes total thru 18 polls.
For South Carolina House of Representatives District 26, incumbent Republican David Martin defeated challenger Elizabeth Enns getting 54% of the vote
Incumbent Republican Brandon Newton who represents Lancaster and Kershaw Counties, he defeated challenger Russell Brazell 2,301 votes to 1,791.
Both Martin and Newton have democratic challengers in November.
In House District 49 which covers Rock Hill and York, incumbent John King defeated Perry Sutton. In that race King claimed to have won all the box totals in Rock Hill. One box in York was tied. King does not have a challenger in November.
