Tega Cay’s Andrew Fisher Takes Second at State Fair Flower Competition

Columbia, S.C. — Tega Cay resident Andrew Fisher earned second place in the Tropical Flowers – Philodendron Division at the South Carolina State Fair Flower Competition.
Philodendron entries are judged on vigor, symmetry, leaf condition, color, and overall cultivation. Fisher’s runner-up finish highlights months of careful care—balanced light, consistent humidity, and attentive pruning—to present a flawless specimen on show day.
The State Fair flower show features divisions spanning cut flowers, potted plants, succulents, and floral design. Fisher’s ribbon is a point of pride for the local gardening community and a testament to the skill required to make a philodendron stand out on South Carolina’s biggest stage for flowers.
