YORK COUNTY HIRES ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT DIRECTOR

YORK COUNTY, SC: York County is excited to announce the hiring of Mitch Miller as our Director of Economic Development. Mitch came on board as deputy director last year, and has served as interim director since last summer.

Mitch brings more than 15 years of experience to the role, and thrives on his ability to develop and build relationships. The effort to attract businesses, large and small, to our area is a complex process requiring a great deal of skill in negotiation and collaboration. Mitch possesses the skillset and vision to help position York County as a leader in attracting and retaining businesses that will drive our local economy and improve our quality of life.

Mitch has an extensive background in this field. Before arriving in York County, he was Chief Operating Officer of the Northeast Tennessee Regional Hub where he worked to strengthen local businesses, improve worker retention and manage organizational strategy. Prior to that he served as Chief Executive Officer of Northeast Tennessee Regional Economic Partnership, and CEO of the Washington County Economic Development Council. He has also served as Director of Marketing and Business Recruitment for Tri-Cities Regional Alliance, and Business Development Manager with Lincoln County Economic Development Association in Lincolnton, North Carolina.

York County Manager Josh Edwards said:

“Mitch is focused on growing economic opportunities for York County citizens so we can continue to be a great place to live, work and raise a family. He has worked with County Council to begin implementation of York County’s 2025-2027 Strategic Plan, focusing on people and industries that make York County special, like our farmers and small businesses. Mitch is committed to collaborating with our local municipalities to help accomplish a shared vision for Economic Development.”

Assistant York County Manager Tom Couch added:

“Mitch has demonstrated in his interim role that he is a strategic leader actively working to build relationships and economic opportunity for York County. He will be a great community advocate whose focus is on creating jobs, capital investment, and growth with new and existing businesses.”

One of the goals of York County’s 2025-2027 Strategic Plan is to grow economic opportunities. That means developing economic opportunities that improve resident’s quality of life and support the community’s vision for economic development by providing a favorable business climate that values local businesses, promotes economic vibrancy, and prioritizes partnerships to create a more diverse and balanced economy.

York County is confident that Mitch and his team at York County Economic Development can help us achieve that critical strategic goal.
