Carowinds owner Cedar Fair merging with Six Flags in $8 billion deal

Cedar Fair-owner of Carowinds amusement park and 11 others across the USA and Canada-is merging with Six Flags Entertainment Corp in an $8 billion dollar deal announced today… Cedar Fair is based in Sandusky, Ohio, and Six Flags is in Arlington, Texas, but their new company headquarters will be located in neighboring Charlotte… The combined company will operate 27 amusement parks, 15 water parks and 9 resort properties across 17 states in the U.S., Canada and Mexico. The merger of Cedar Fair into Six Flags should be completed sometime in early 2024 when shareholders of Six Flags meet to discuss and approve the merger which is also subject to regulatory approval….
