Concord, N.C. – The Winthrop women’s basketball team has been predicted to finish seventh in the 2023-24 season, announced today as part of Big South Media Day.

High Point is predicted to win the 2023-24 Big South title, with the Panthers garnering eight first place votes while Presbyterian nabbed one first-place vote. The Blue Hose and Radford are picked to tie for second followed by Longwood, UNC Asheville, USC Upstate, Winthrop, Charleston Southern and Gardner-Webb.

Head coach Semeka Randall Lay will begin her fourth season at the helm of the Eagles. The Eagles will have 11 new faces on the floor, as well as two new assistant coaches: Necole Sterling and Dante Travis.

The Eagles welcome back redshirt freshman Tiana Spann, juniors Jada Ryce and Leonor Paisana and senior Frances Brown. Ryce was named to the 2023-24 Big South Conference Women’s Basketball Preseason All-Conference Second Team.

The Eagles will open their 2023-24 campaign on Nov. 6 against Clemson University on the road. Tip-off is at 11:00 a.m.
