Shooting near Fort Mill schools puts them on a temporary lockdown

Two schools in Fort Mill were placed on lockout this morning after a shooting took place nearby. The incident occurred within a mile of both Fort Mill Elementary and Fort Mill Middle off springfield parkway. The lockout occurred around 10am when law enforcement was made aware of the shooting. Doors were locked and teaching continued on. It was lifted within the hour. Deputies arrived at Hensley Road and Sleepy Hollow road after a man was shot. The person of interest has been taken into custody, while the victim was taken to hospital. The investigation by the York County Sheriff’s office is ongoing.
