The 2011 Rock Hill, South Carolina Come-See-Me Festival begins on Thursday, April 7th with the return of Musical Mania at Manchester Meadows Soccer Complex. Children can make music, craft instruments and join in the mass kazoo march around the lake. The new children’s favorite, Chalk on Main will take place Friday, April 8th where kids of all ages can grab some chalk and create art on Main Street.

This year’s Splendor of Spring Parade on Saturday, April 9th, at 11 AM features Grand Marshall Jeff Wyman, a veteran and cancer survivor with marching bands, unique floats, mascots and local organizations celebrating all the wonderful things about spring.

For those who enjoy eating, we have lots of events for you. Beginning with the Woman’s Club Café, the Pancake Breakfast, Gourmet Gardens, BBQ, No Pork Competition, BBQ Cook-off, and Glencairn Gardens Entertainment will feature food from local restaurants and cafés.  Returning “old favorites” include Beach Bash featuring Ocean Breeze, Mayor’s Frog Jump, Sundaes with Glen & Mother Goose, Moonlight Jazz featuring Robert Gardiner Jazz Quartet and Jake Halden Vang, the Teddy Bear Tea Party, and Tailgate and Fireworks Extravaganza featuring headliner Eric Lindell.

New events for 2011 include Jewel of the Carolinas Spring market Friday, April 8th 9am-6pm and Saturday, April 9th 9am-5pm, featuring a variety of vendors from all over the southeast.  Purchase items such as unique clothing, specialty items, jewelry, gourmet foods, handbags, children’s clothing, collegiate items, home and garden, pottery, stationery, antiques and art, toys and much more!! Tickets are $4 when purchased in advance from Junior Welfare League members or at the door for $5. Children 12 and under FREE!! Proceeds will benefit the Tender Heart Ministries. Join us for lunch and dinner  featuring favorite dishes from local restaurants and out of town vendors. The WRHI Stage of Events will feature the wonderful sounds of Heywire Acoustic starting at 2:00pm. There will be a special area just for kids to explore. Bring the whole family. Fees for food and children’s area (Cash only, no ATMs on site). Rain or shine.

Glencairn Garden, the birthplace of Come-See-Me, will feature daily entertainment Monday to Thursday. Entertainers include The Old Fogies, Gene Gene and the BLUE MACHINE, Se7en…Music with Soul, Divas Through the Decades of the Stage and Screen, Fayssoux Starling McLean, Kenny Curry & NuSpririt, Ansel Couch and Broadway Night at Glencairn.

The sports enthusiast will welcome the Road Race and Fun Run, The Y Tri @ the Rock, Adult & Junior Tennis Tournament, Golf Tournament, and Winthrop Baseball and Softball. Returning for our younger guests are Frog Coloring Contest, Frog Hoppin’ Fun, Jumping Jeepers Frog Crafts, Everything Trucks, Children’s Art Activities, Kid’s Carnival, and the Teddy Bear Tea Party, Musical Mania, Sundaes with Glen and Mother Goose and Frog Float.

The 10-day Come-See-Me Festival is considered the largest, all-volunteer festival in South Carolina and attracts more than 100,000 participants and visitors each year.
