USC’s Martin lands first two recruits
New USC basketball coach Frank Martin Thursday picked up the first two pieces of rebuilding project with the Gamecocks. Martin received a commitment from 6-5 Thaddeus Hall of Brooklyn, NY and signed 6-8 Minda Kacinas of Lithuania. He attends a school in Wichita, KS.
Hall emerged this season as one of the top prep scorers in New York City averaging over 35 points per game. He picked USC over offers from Virginia Tech, St. Johns, Maryland and West Virginia. Hall has never visited USC but plans to do so in May after he takes the SAT for the first time. He does have family in Charleston.
Kacinas averaged 26 points and 15 rebounds per game for Word of Life Academy in Wichita where he was recruited by Martin while he was at Kansas State. Kacinas made 43 percent of his three pointers and was an 80% shooter from the line last season.
Hall and Kacinas join 6-8 November signee Tyrone Haughton in USC’s 2012 class, and Martin has three more scholarships to work with this spring.
