Former South Pointe quarterback projected to be a first round draft pick
This year’s NFL Draft is hitting close to home as former South Pointe High School quarterback Stephon Gilmore is projected to be a first round pick. With only two weeks left before teams decide who will be their rookies for the upcoming season, Gilmore has already visited with nearly ten different NFL clubs.
Gilmore is no rookie when it comes to being in the spotlight. He was named South Carolina’s Mr. Football in 2008 and led the South Pointe Stallions to the South Carolina AAAA Division II title as a senior. He was also an All-American Cornerback at the University of South Carolina. Despite all the hype about his projection to be a first round pick, he remains focused on the things to come.
[audio: 0412-Gilmore-E.mp3]During an interview on ESPN yesterday Gilmore said he will use the same film studying techniques that helped him learn players during his high school and college football careers to prepare him to face tougher players of the NFL.

[audio: 0412-Gilmore-D.mp3]The 21-year-old may not know which team will call his name, but one thing he did admit is that he is going to miss his mother’s cooking. The 2012 NFL Draft will be held in New York this month.
