Jurors in Stasko trial visit N.C. 49 crash site
Jurors in a street racing murder trial spent about 20 minutes Thursday at the site of the collision that killed three people including a Winthrop University professor two years ago.
Escorted by bailiffs from the courtroom, the jury of seven men and five women walked by the intersection of Riverpointe Drive and Highway 49 in southwest Charlotte.
Prosecutors wrapped up their case with the unusual field trip where Cynthia Furr, a college professor, had tried to pull out of her neighborhood when a car driven by Tyler Stasko slammed into hers in April 2009.
Furr, her two-year-old daughter, and a 13-year-old Clover boy in Stasko’s car were killed in the collision. Stasko is charged with three counts of second-degree murder.
