Fire causes $40k in damage to Rock Hill home

No injuries were reported in a fire Friday afternoon that firefighters say caused an estimated 40-thousand dollars in damage to a Twitty Court home in Rock Hill.
A 37-year-old man and his 81-year-old grandmother were safely evacuated after the man reportedly left a lit cigarette on his bed and came back to find the bed on fire.
According to the police report, the man said he attempted to extinguish the fire, but stopped after it spread to the bedding and mattress.
