Award-winning actress and Winthrop University alumna Shanola Hampton, Class of 1998, is set to return to her alma mater for a series of special events on Friday, May 9th, and Saturday, May 10th.

On Friday, May 9th, Hampton will be the featured guest at an “Evening with Shanola Hampton” event, taking place from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at the Winthrop Coliseum. This event was previously scheduled for Byrnes Auditorium but has been moved to the larger venue.

The evening will be emceed by Winthrop theatre graduate Kalaylah Chisolm, Class of 2022 and 2023. During her public address, Hampton will share insights connecting her experiences at Winthrop University to her successful career in the entertainment industry. She will also discuss her commitment to giving back and the responsibilities that come with being a public figure. Following her talk, Hampton will participate in a question-and-answer session with the audience. Attendees will also have the opportunity to meet Hampton and take photographs with her. The “Evening with Shanola Hampton” is free and open to the public, but those planning to attend are encouraged to register online.

The following day, Saturday, May 10th, Hampton will address the graduating class as the featured speaker during the 10 a.m. Undergraduate Commencement ceremony.

Shanola Hampton is widely recognized for her portrayal of Veronica Fisher in the critically acclaimed and award-winning Showtime television series “Shameless.” Currently, she produces and stars as Gabi Mosely in the NBC drama series “Found.” Additionally, Hampton served as the face model for the character Rochelle in the popular video game “Left 4 Dead 2.”
