WRHI made broadcast history Saturday night by becoming the first Radio station in South Carolina to win the Radio Station of the Year Award in 9 different years. The coveted recognition was one of 15 awards received by OTS Media during the South Carolina Broadcasters Association’s 51st annual awards ceremony in Columbia. Individually, Chris Miller continued his streak of 12 consecutive years as the state’s top Sportscaster and was recognized with multiple other sports awards including Sports Show Of The Year for the “Red Zone”, Convergence Coverage Award for the Football City USA KickOff and the Award of Merit in the same category for South Pointe State Championship.  In addition, Miller, along with Congressman Ralph Norman and Austin Livingston, received and award for Best Pandemic Coverage. Lucas McFadden, Patti Mercer and Tyler Cupp captured two awards for Palmetto Mornings including being named News-Talk Show of the Year for the first time and The Award of Merit for Radio Show Of the Year. Steven Stone was honored with three news awards including Newscaster of the Year Award of Merit in addition to Breaking News Story of the Year for the Lesslie Family Murders and the Award of Merit in the same category for the Price Brothers Arrest. Toys for Happiness and Moe & Mary Bell were recognized with a prestigious Uray Public Service Award. Tyler Cupp, Gene Knight, Matt Hiers and Chet Tucker also received awards in multiple sports categories. Steven Stone, Jackson Taylor and Elizabeth Evans were awarded with the PSA of the Year for “Don’t Litter Lancaster County” and Maxablities received the Award of Merit in the same category.  And for the third consecutive year, Manning Kimmel and Straight Talk picked up an award for Best Public Affairs program.
WLTX in Columbia was named the state’s top TV station, one of 9 awards they received to lead ALL television stations in South Carolina.
