Winthrop Athletics Announces Ticketing Plan For Big South Tourney Games, Attendance Plan For Indoor Events

Rock Hill, S.C. – The Winthrop Athletic Department will host fans in the Winthrop Coliseum for next week’s quarterfinal game as part of the Big South Men’s Basketball Tournament, scheduled for Monday, Mar. 1.

Due to the cancellation of home regular season men’s basketball games this week the Winthrop Athletic Department will do the following to honor tickets already purchased for those games:

• Any ticket purchased for the Tuesday, Feb. 23 home game versus Hampton will become valid for Monday’s Big South Tournament Quarterfinal game at 7 p.m. Tickets will be honored for the same quantity and same seat location.
• Tickets purchased for Wednesday, Feb. 24 will become valid for the semifinal game of the tournament should Winthrop advance. The tournament semifinal game is scheduled for Thursday, Mar. 4 with a time yet to be determined. If Winthrop does not advance, all fans will receive a full refund of their ticket purchase.

Due to a very limited capacity as determined by state and Winthrop University officials in response to the COVID-19 pandemic, tickets to either game, should Winthrop advance, will be extremely limited.

First priority for any available tickets to the quarterfinal game will be granted to Winthrop Eagle Club members only. Any remaining tickets for the semifinal game will be available for purchase on winthropeagles.com/tickets.

Should Winthrop advance and host the semifinal game an announcement will be made for the day and time that any additional tickets will go on sale. Tickets will be priced at $12 each and sold in pods of two only. Announcements regarding available tickets will be posted to winthropeagles.com as well as its social media channels. Winthrop volleyball is scheduled to play at home this weekend with games against Campbell on Saturday, Feb. 27 at 4 p.m. and Sunday, Feb. 28 at noon. Women’s basketball has one home series remaining against Presbyterian College but the dates have yet to be determined by the Big South Conference. Winthrop Athletics has implemented COVID-19 protocols in an effort to welcome fans back to inside the coliseum safely. All visitors must adhere to the guidelines and protocols during the entirety of their visit.

Every person that enters the building must wear a mask upon entering the facility and throughout the building as well as observe social distancing guidelines. Fans will also be asked to follow the guidelines posted throughout the Coliseum. There will be a number of hand sanitizer stations located throughout the concourse for your convenience. Fans are not permitted to come down to the court at any time prior to, during or after any contest.
