AUDIO: Van Wyck Mayor recalls process of becoming a town

Van Wyck held an election last year and voted in favor of incorporating themselves as a town.  In November they voted Sean Corcoran in as their new Mayor.  Corcoran recalled a meeting 18 months ago where members of the Indian Land community met with members of Van Wyck.

Corcoran said Van Wyck becoming a town was a group effort by many different parts of the community

Corcoran said it took 3 hearings in front of the South Carolina Legislative Committee for municipal incorporations and finally on the third hearing they got the green light.
