About 100 take tour of Rock Hill’s Woolworth Walkway downtown
About 100 people turned out Monday for a tour of the Woolworth Walkway from East Main Street downtown to the White Street parking lot.
Debra Heintz is the executive director of the Arts Council of York County.
Heintz says there’s a lot of history in the art that’s on the walls of the buildings in the walkway.
“It’s part of the Friendship 9, then there’s always women’s right to vote, the Catawba Indian Nation and some civil rights issues. There are a lot of things to consider.”
The entrance to the walkway is beside the new 139 Main Street apartment complex.
Heintz says it’s a way to incorporate art into an economic development project.
The walkway will be open for public use within the next 60 days.
