The new CEO of Piedmont Medical Center says the South Carolina Court of Appeals will hear the challenge to Piedmont’s bid to build a new hospital in Fort Mill sometime in November.

Brad Talbert made those comments Wednesday afternoon on WRHI’s Straight Talk.

Tenet Healthcare, which is Piedmont Medical Center’s parent company, has waged a more than ten-year battle against Carolinas Healthcare Systems in Charlotte to obtain a certificate of need to build the hospital in Fort Mill.

Talbert says even if the state appeals court rules in Piedmont’s favor, Carolinas Healthcare Systems could still challenge that decision with the South Carolina Supreme Court.
