Thompson seeking to unseat longtime S.C. Senator Wes Hayes

A Clover small businessman and local tea party chairman has announced his intentions to unseat longtime state senator Wes Hayes as a petition candidate in November.

Joe Thompson, who’s currently the head of the group SC District 5 patriots, was outside the Florida Senator Marco Rubio’s book signing in Rock Hill this morning, seeking the necessary 3-thousand signatures to appear on the ballot before the July 16 deadline.

Thompson’s potential opponent Wes Hayes has served in the state senate since 1991.
