The South Pointe High School Concert Choir received an award today from Charlotte Television Station WTVI.

South Pointe’s Choir won a five-thousand-dollar prize in the My School Rocks competition at WTVI last month by raising more money for the station than other participating bands.

South Pointe Choral Director Beverly Laney says the award validates the concert choir’s art.

Laney warns that choral music could be a dying art if people aren’t careful enough.

Andrew Jackson High School placed third in the My School Rocks competition, winning a $1,000 check.
