York County Planners Tuesday issued a permit to a Lake Wylie church giving church leaders the go-ahead to demolish a nearly century-old schoolhouse.

Councilman Chad Williams echoed a number of concerns from council members.

The permit was issued after the county’s planning and development officers verified the church’s request had met a set of state requirements for moving forward with the demolition.

Church leaders said the demolition would move forward Wednesday if the weather cooperates.
