An education administrator in the Rock Hill School District has won a national award.

South Pointe High School assistant principal Denise Khaalid has been named the National Association of Secondary School Principals-Virco National Assistant Principal of the year.

A news release from the NASSP says Khaalid oversees a number of community and parent partnerships, coordinates the school’s dual-credit and High Schools That Work programs and facilitates professional learning among staff members.

South Pointe Principal Al Leonard says Khaalid is an outstanding educator who has, “served to make those around her better educators as well.”

In November, Khaalid was named South Carolina’s Assistant Principal of the Year by the state Association of School Administrators.

She was named a finalist for the national honor in January.
