March of Dimes kicks off local fundraising campaign

The York County chapter of the March of Dimes kicked off its 2012 March for Babies fundraising campaign in Rock Hill this afternoon.

The local March for Babies is scheduled to take place April 28th at Cherry Park. The campaign raises funds for research to help prevent premature birth and birth defects. Chairman Todd Lumpkin says people take a normal pregnancy for granted.

Lumpkin says the March for Babies IS the March of Dimes fundraising event each year.

Lumpkin says the goal of the march is to raise at least 90-thousand dollars. He says that can happen if the number of walkers goes up by five percent and fundraising jumps ten percent.
