Mother dead, son injured after domestic incident in Fort Mill

York County has experienced its first homicide in 2012.

34-year-old Jackie Craine of Fort Mill was shot and killed Thursday at the Avery Lake Apartments in Fort Mill.

She was taken to Piedmont Medical Center where she was pronounced dead.  Fort Mill Police Captain Bryan Zachary says after officers found Craine, they began looking for the shooting suspect.

Zachary says the suspect surrendered to police.  He’s been identified as 38-year-old James Diago and Zachary says he was Craine’s ex-boyfriend.

However, Zachary does not know how or why the two encountered each other this morning.

Zachary says Craine’s 16-year-old son was also in the S-U-V when her body was found, but he did not suffer life-threatening injuries.
