Lindemann arrested for DUI
A former York County Councilman who’s already had several brushes with the law — and who’s still set to head to federal prison in a few weeks earned himself another strike on his rap sheet Tuesday.
Police say 32-year-old Paul Lindemann struck a mailbox just after 1:45 Tuesday morning in Fort Mill’s Baxter Village.
State Highway Patrol spokesman Lance Corporal Billy Elder said Tuesday that a 2003 Lexus SUV swerved off the side of Commons Court. Lindemann, who was later identified as the driver fled on foot.
He was apprehended shortly afterwards, and did not take take a breathalyzer test. Lindemann told Judge Dan Malphrus at his bond hearing this afternoon that he’s had, quote “Better Days.”
And better days he’s had — has Lindemann was convicted in 2011 of mortgage application fraud — he’s set to head to federal prison in April following the birth of his second son.
Lindemann’s was charged with DUI four years ago in Columbia, but pleaded guilty to a lesser offense.
He’s also been the defendant in a civil suit over money owed over failed business deals.
Lindemann’s latest charges from Tuesday include DUI and leaving the scene of an accident.
