Nearly 500 journalists from across the globe, including our own Andrew Kiel, descended on Time Warner Cable Arena in Uptown Charlotte Wednesday for the first behind-the-scenes glimpse of what’s to come with this year’s 2012 Democratic National Convention.

Nearly 15-thousand members of the media are expected in town in early September, and organizers know providing coordinated space for members of the media is crucial to the public’s perception of the convention.

Among the topics of discussion Wednesday was the prevalence of social media and bloggers – two new forms of media that weren’t as prevalent now as they were in 2008.

Reporters, producers and engineers toured media spaces at the arena, as well as the Charlotte Convention Center and Bank of America stadium.
