The Culture and Heritage Commission of York County is scheduled to meet this evening and the seven members could make a decision on a permanent executive director of the museums.

Last week, the panel trimmed its list of candidates to four finalists. Two of those finalists are from the Carolinas and have ties to the museum, while the others are from outside the Southeast but have extensive museum-related experience.

Commissioner Jonell Hagner said last week a decision on a permanent replacement for the departed Van Shields could be made today. Harry Exell has served as interim museums’ director since Shields left in September.

Exell is one of the finalists, along with Jeff Lambert of Winston-Salem, N.C., Sheila Riley of Fishers, Ind. and Carey Tilley of Park Hill, Okla.

The CHC is scheculed to meet at six o-clock this evening at the Museum of York County.
