Monday night, York County Council approved the second reading of a proposal to extend Dave Lyle Blvd.. After hearing from parties both for and against the plan, council decided to delay a third and final reading until February, pending an additional public hearing.

Several residents — both for and against the proposal — came before county council Monday, and after hearing from opponents, councilman Bruce Henderson said it’s very rare that a developer comes before council not asking for money, but asking to invest their own money into future development.

Council did hear from several opponents of the project, who, at times, were emotional about the prospect of generations of farmland being developed.

Monday’s second reading did pass, and is part of a larger notion — the county’s 2025 Comprehensive Plan. Another public hearing on the matter will be scheduled for late January.
