A logistics company that is designed for high-volume, mass retail distribution is expanding its facilities to Berkeley County, creating more jobs for the area. Regal Logistics, a third party retail distribution company, is expected to bring in about 30 new full-time jobs and 50 to 100 seasonal jobs with its new distribution center in Berkeley County. The South Carolina Department of Commerce and the South Carolina State Ports Authority made the announcement this week.

The modern tilt-up concrete panel facility is expected to attract more manufacturers and importers to the area. Regal Logistics Vice President Garry Neeves says “Regal’s expansion in Charleston is in direct response to manufacturers, importers and exporters’ demand for an ideal east coast ship point to satisfy major retailers like Wal-Mart.”

The facility is a multi-million dollar investment set to be built about 3 miles from Interstate-526, only four miles from the Port of Charleston. SPA President and CEO Jim Newsome says “The Port of Charleston is a fundamental driver in advancing economic development in South Carolina and this announcement is another sign.”
