Tickets for the state’s largest single sporting event in history are on sale starting today. You can now buy tickets for the 2012 PGA Championship on Kiawah Island. It’s not only the largest single sporting event in the state’s history, it will also bring in an estimated $84 million to the state’s economy. Kiawah 2012 PGA Championship President Roger Warren says if someone wants to go, they better reserve his or her spot now.

The reason it’s such a dramatic thing, the interest in this is unprecedented, and we are also having fewer people be able to get tickets. We are setting it at 27,000 spectators, which is about 30 percent less than a normal PGA Championship, and the reason we are doing that is that the ocean course is a very difficult course to get around. We want to make sure that the experience for the people coming out there is the very best it can be, and that experience is comparable to what we do here at Kiawah.

Warren says he expects the tickets to be sold out after this week due to the size of this event. The 2012 PGA Championship on Kiawah Island is August 9-12. Purchase tickets at pga2012.com.
