Kohler cuts 85 jobs in Spartanburg plant
The Kohler Company announced Thursday that they will be cutting 85 jobs in Spartanburg. Todd Weber, Kohler spokesman said the Wisconsin-based company is eliminating positions in both production and administration. The layoffs are part of a nationwide work force reduction of 450 positions as well as 300 temporary positions from plumbing operations.
The company says the housing market has not rebounded as they had hoped. Chairman and CEO Herb Kohler said that the economic recovery will begin when consumers have confidence in the stability of their jobs, in the potential upside in the value of their homes and when they are not hit with a prolonged stream of higher taxes.
