Fair ends with gunshots
The last night of the Carolina Coastal Fair in Ladson ended with gunshots.
This was an area of the fair that’s called “The Main Walkway,” and estimates on the attendance, probably around 50,000 people. There were two people shot, one victim was shot multiple times, taken to an area hospital and treated. The other victim was slightly injured, was treated at the scene and released.
It happened around 11 p.m. on Saturday and Major John Clark with the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office says they have not been told there was much panic at the fair during the shooting. As for the investigation:
We have made an arrest of a subject from out of Walterboro. His name is Rashan Dantzler. He is going to be charged with one count of attempted murder, one count of assault in the second degree in possession of a firearm in the commission of a violent crime.
The shooting is still under investigation. Clark says they still do not know exactly what happened.
That is still being determined at this time. We have not been able to figure out exactly what happened. We do know that they know each other. They do have some sort of history, the extent as to which we are still investigation. One of the victims we know is also from the Walterboro area, so that has us looking at that as well.
Clark says they are in contact with Walterboro authorities, as well as SLED to see if the shooting is in connection with the recent string of crimes in the Walterboro community. Clark says they are still trying to find out the motive behind the shooting.
