Business leaders from across the state are meeting at the Isle of Palms near Charleston for a chamber summit. It’s the annual summit of the South Carolina Chamber of Commerce and this year it is at one of Charleston’s premiere beaches, the Isle of Palms. Business leaders are discussing the state budget, as well as the state’s high unemployment figures at the session.

The Associated Press reports State Workforce Department Executive Director John Finan will have a presentation on the budget crunch the state is facing. A separate session will talk about hospital and health care business collaboration.

The chamber represents about 18,000 businesses across the state, and more than one million employees.
