The 1222nd return from Afghanistan Friday

Soldiers with the 1222nd are scheduled to return home Friday after a one-year deployment to Afghanistan. The South Carolina Army National Guard soldiers are located in Fort Mill, which is part of the 178th Engineer Battalion, headquartered in Rock Hill.

During deployment, the mission of the 1222nd was to clear roadways for military convoys in Afghanistan.

The soldiers are scheduled to arrive in Columbia at Eagle Aviation just after 2 p.m.
