Popular road will close soon as part of a widening project for Pennies for Progress

A roadway nearby one of York Counties busiest intersections is set to close for more than a month In Rock Hill, the South Carolina Department of Transportation says that Riverview Road will close on September 16th at 7am and will not reopen till October 28th. Crews will be working to widen it from Celanese to Eden Terrace and is part of Pennies for Progress. The road connects Cherry and Celanese near I-77. A lot of other smaller projects have happened at Riverchase and Riverview to change traffic signals to help congestion. A referendum from 2011 asked for 7.9 million to widen Riverview but it now costs 25 million. Its just one of many projects in the county that have seen inflated construction costs even after the pandemic.
