Two people dead after a car wrecks into a tree following an attempted traffic stop

An update on a story previously recorded today as now two people have died following a collision in York County on Thursday night. More details have been release as just before 11 pm, an officer with Rock Hill Police attempted to conduct a traffic stop on a Dodge Challenger as it turned onto Harper Gault Road. The vehicle did not stop but the officer decided not to pursue after initially turning on sirens. However, the officer later came upon the intersection of Harper Gault Road and Oakdale and found the car wrecked into the woods. According to the Highway Patrol, the vehicle was traveling west on Harper gault and went off the rightside of the road, hitting a tree. The driver of the vehicle was taken to an area hospital, where they later died. The passenger was pronounced deceased at the scene. Police said it was later discovered that the Challenger was listed as a stolen vehicle.
